Grammy Rehearsals

So yesterday I was very fortunate to be at the Grammy rehearsals and got to see what is bound to be some amazing performances come Sunday afternoon/evening....

Don't continue reading if you don't want any spoilers.

MIA performance with TI, Kanye, Jay Z and Lil Wayne

So M.I.A is up for Record Of The Year for "Paper Planes" and she starts of performing this in front of a curtain back drop. She performs just the chorus, when it remixes into "Swagga Like Us" and at this point the curtains open to reveal the 4 biggest rappers at the moment (Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Kanye and TI) all there to perform the song. Watching this rehearsed 3 times last night was an absolute honour, and I only hope that M.I.A makes it through the evening without going into labour.

Here are a couple of pics from the rehearsal.

Rihanna performance

Rihanna is gonna be performing both "Live Your Life" and "Disturbia" she will start behind a frosted screen singing "Live Your Life" with a microphone shaped like a sword and then the glass will shatter, and then she will walk through and start performing "Disturbia"

Katy Perry Performance

Katy Perry, will be performing "I Kissed A Girl" and will start off above the stage in a Yellow banana, which lowers during the first verse of the song and then she bursts into the chorus with around 10 female dancers, all vying for her atention. Lots of fruit in the back drop.

Justin and TI performance

Justin and TI are performing their new single "Dead and Gone" where Justin starts by playing the chorus sitting on the Piano. Then TI comes out from between the stairs and starts rapping. The song is simple in terms of performance, but with the string section and 10 drummers on the stairs, the impact of the performance is AMAZING. Justin stays behind the Piano the whole time unfortunately but is deffo worth checking out.

Estelle and Kanye performance

I only caught a bit of "American Boy" being performed, but they will be on the circular stage in the centre of the audience and from what I am told they will only be performing half of the song and then presenting an award, although I thought it was just because they only had a limited time to rehearse the song itself. Very simple performance but good none the less.

Today there are rehearsals for more of the rock/live artists such as U2, Paul McCartney and then the Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift and Jonas Brothers performance as well. Should make for an interesting show on Sunday!!!!
